MADISON — State Superintendent Dr. Jill Underly proclaimed this week, May 6-10, as Teacher Appreciation Week in Wisconsin.
“Our teachers are the heart and soul of our education system — the impact they have stretches far beyond classroom walls,” Underly said. “They are the unsung heroes in our communities who go above and beyond to help shape the next generation of leaders. I am so incredibly grateful and send my thanks to all Wisconsin educators for all they do to care for our kids, and for their support in helping them learn and grow as individuals.
“During Teacher Appreciation Week, I encourage Wisconsinites to take a moment to express their thanks and gratitude to the teachers in your community for the dedication, passion and commitment they have to our kids.”
Wisconsin has nearly 68,000 teachers and educators in the public school system, with over 110,000 full-time staff employed at schools in the state’s 421 public school districts.
