ARGYLE - Adams Lutheran Church, rural Argyle, will be holding its annual Syttende Mai celebration at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The festival is open to everyone in the surrounding community and will include devotion, song, remembrances, fellowship and food.
Bob and Cyndy Carlson of Monticello, with their children, Karissa, 24, Julia, 17, and Isaiah, 14, will provide musical entertainment. Karissa Carlson started playing piano at local nursing homes 10 years ago. Her family always would join her, enjoying the time to visit with the residents. The two younger children also began to join in the music and sing along. Now, the three siblings sing three-part harmony together and have added harp, violin, flute and accordion to their musical repertoire.
Rodney Nybroten of Madison will be sharing two stories of local Norwegian immigrants' travels to America.
Ed Gerner, Skot Kempfer and Harlan Emberson will greet and usher guests, Curtis Moen will lead devotions, and Kristy Zwicker will be the pianist.
There will be a project, craft and bake sale table with several quilts, handmade articles and Norwegian delicacies. Helping with the project table are Sandy Strommen, Dolores Winden and Kathy Wirtz.
Servers for the evening are Barbara Voegeli, Barbara Erickson, Lila Svendsen, Bonnie Gerner and all Adams Women of the ELCA. Lunch and fellowship will be held in fellowship hall after the program.
The public is invited to attend. Tickets are $8. The church will be decorated with a heritage theme and is handicapped-accessible.
