FREEPORT — The Senior Resource Center, in partnership with University of Illinois Extension-Stephenson County, invites older adults to join the next class in its Healthy Aging Series: Honey and Health: Nature’s Sweet Treat. The class will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, at the Senior Resource Center, 206 E. Stephenson St., Freeport.
Strong social connections are essential to healthy aging. Participating in group activities not only brings people together through shared interests, but also combats loneliness, promotes social engagement, and contributes to overall well-being. This month’s program offers a perfect opportunity to connect, learn, and enjoy a “sweet” topic that blends health with nature’s gifts.
Honey and Health will explore the fascinating world of honey — nature’s golden treasure. Attendees will learn about its sensory characteristics, various types, common terminology, and wide-ranging uses. The program will also feature simple and delicious honey-infused recipes to try at home.
Whether you’re a honey lover or simply curious, this session promises to be both educational and enjoyable. Registration is $5 and includes all materials.
