Summer ball registration continues through March 27

MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department is taking registration for Junior and Senior Softball Leagues and American and National Baseball Leagues now through Friday, March 27. Registration forms are available at the parks and rec office.

The cost is $26 for each player, which includes a T-shirt.

Girls Softball

The Junior League is for girls entering fifth through seventh grades in September of 2009. Junior League will play games on Tuesday nights beginning on June 2. Last year game times were at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Games are played at Twining East and West Diamond.

The Senior League is for players entering seventh through ninth grades in September of 2009. Senior League will play games on Monday nights beginning on June 1. Last year games times were at 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

The seventh graders have a choice to play in the Junior or Senior League depending on their ability level. To qualify for Senior League, they also have to have played two years in the Junior League. Practices start in early May.

Junior and Senior League players can also register for Softball with the Cheesemakers from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, March 30, at the high school. If weather permits, it will be at Twining Park. Everyone participating will receive a Campion's Champion T-shirt donated by Monsignor Campion. Cost is $6. Pre-registration is required.

Boys Little League

The American League is for players who will be entering fourth or fifth grade in September of 2009. The American League will play games on Wednesday nights beginning June 3. Last year game times were at 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Games are played at Northeast and South Wayne ball diamonds.

The National League is for players who will be entering sixth or seventh grade in September of 2009. The National League will play games on Monday nights beginning June 1. Last year game times were at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

American and National League players can also register for Baseball with the Cheesemakers from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, March 30, at the Monroe Middle School. If weather permits, it will be at the High School Baseball diamond. Everyone participating will receive a Campion's Champion T-shirt donated by Monsignor Campion. Bring a glove and come join the MHS Baseball players for a little baseball fun. Cost is $6. Pre-registration is required.
