Studio M dancers compete

MONROE - Studio M Dance Academy competed in the Hollywood Connection Chicago Regionals on March 5-7 in Chicago, Ill.

The Senior Competitive Company, consisting of Jesse Anderson, Veronica Andraski, Samantha Becherer, Troy Carpenter, Amy Johnson, Brianna Karlen, Lauren Keegan, Hanna Knutson, Megan Moyer, Brianna Price, Jess Shaker, Lizzie Siedschlag and Emma Stephenson, competed in two numbers, one called "Fever" and the other "Dust." Both received silver awards. "Fever" also received third-place Regional Champion.

The Senior Competitive Company combined with the Junior Company (Alexia Bartels, Megan Hill, Tara Keegan, Breanna Ostrander, Abby Oudinot and Haley Schmidt) to perform a piece called "Divide," which also won a silver award.

Megan (Campbell) Jorenby and Molly Campbell, Studio M Dance Academy owners, choreographed the pieces. Christine Scheppele, Senior Company, also attended the convention.

The competition was held in conjunction with a learning convention where the dancers took master classes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The competition portion was held Saturday night.

On Sunday, the dancers performed the convention pieces they learned and auditioned for various scholarships. Troy Carpenter was awarded a scholarship to Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles.
