Students win Mears honors

MONROE - Winners of the Helen Farnsworth Mears Art Contest in the Monroe Woman's Club annual art competition are as follows:

Painting winners: Colin Lehman, first place; Cody Stamm, second place; Zoe Bartosik, third place; Cody Oudinot, Honorable Mention; and Eric Hegi, Honorable Mention

Sculpture winners: Amy Whiteman, first place; Taylor Suddeth, second place; Dusty Burkhalter, third place; Kelsey Varra, Honorable Mention; and Michelle Wiesenberg, Honorable Mention

Taylor Suddeth's piece placed second in the General Federation of Women's Club's First District Helen Farnsworth Mears Contest, and then entered into the GFWC State Helen Farenworth Mears contest May 15-17 in Brookfield.

This contest is unique to GFWC-WI and has been in existence since 1927 to honor this exceptional woman artist Helen Farnsworth Mears. The Monroe Woman's Club annual art competition is to encourage and recognize artistic development and achievement among seventh and eighth grade students.
