MONROE - Green County Youth Apprentices were awarded plaques honoring their completion of Financial Services, Health Services, and Welding Programs at the Youth Apprentice Reception May 4 at Monroe High School.
They will also receive Certificates of Occupational Proficiency from the State of Wisconsin Division of Workforce Development after completing the requisite number of work hours and class instruction hours. Business partners, work site mentors, high school, college and industry instructors, and school districts personnel devoted countless hours to instructing and mentoring the youth apprentices. The Youth Apprenticeship program is sponsored by the Green County Area School-To-Work Consortium.
In Financial Services, Level Two, Jessica Hughes, Monroe High School, completed Banking, Finance and Business Law classes.
Emily Kammerude, New Glarus High School; Mikala McKee, Monroe High School; and Brianna Strommen, Brodhead High School, completed the Level 2 Health Services program.
Graduates of the Level 1 Health Services YA Program were: Stephanie Peach, Albany High School; Kari Gritzmaker, Adam Nehotte, Chelsea Nelson, Tara Olson, Morgan Peterson and Morgan Turner, Brodhead High School; Jennifer Rackow, Juda High School; Kolten Kline, Monroe High School; Amanda Ball, Monticello High School; and Jaynie Page, New Glarus High School.
Welding Level 2 Graduates Jacob Lincicum, Albany High School, and Nathan Schliem, Brodhead High School. Level 1 Welding Graduates were Garrett Fisher, Brodhead High School; Nick Scheppele, Monroe High School, and Corey Linner, Parkview High School.
Awards were also presented to the Green County Youth Apprenticeship Program Visionary Partners, those individuals and companies whose "ability to see the potential and their commitment to make something happen has provided the opportunity for our programs to grow and thrive." The Visionary Partner Award for Business for 2008-2009 was given to Wood's Crossing for devoting staff and facilities to the youth apprentices for work, instruction and mentoring.
The Visionary Partner Awards for Instructors for 2008-2009 were given to Monroe Clinic employees Linda Klemm, Health Information Management Director, and Shawn Ace, Clinic Pharmacist. The final Visionary Partner Award for 2008-2009 was presented to Barb McNallie, Business Education Instructor and School-to-Work Coordinator for the Monticello High School.
