MONROE - Students at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School recently celebrated Unity Day as a district.

Students and staff wore orange to provide a visible statement and stand together "United Against Bullying."

In late October, Monroe elementary schools welcomed Tom Pease, a local artist sponsored by the Jacob's SWAG Foundation. The presentation focused on self-esteem, bullying and the joy of laughter and movement.

Students also created a work of art in their classrooms. Each student designed a puzzle piece to represent how people are all different yet always will belong together.

The puzzles will be displayed around the Monroe Square.
