ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Sophomore history major Julia Meyer of Blanchardville received the Yoseloff Scholarship to attend the 2016 Society for American Baseball Research Analytics conference held in Phoenix, Arizona, March 10-12.
The Yoseloff Scholarship is funded by the Anthony A. Yoseloff Foundation Inc.
The purpose of the fellowship is to allow young scholars to build their research abilities and to inspire future baseball research.
At the conference, Meyer had the opportunity to meet analysts of MLB organizations, general managers of teams such as the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Cincinnati Reds, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and other college-aged students who attended. She was one of only a handful of women in attendance at the conference.
Meyer, an athlete herself, is particularly interested in sports history. She is a student at Augustana College, a four-year residential liberal arts and sciences college.
