Stockton Heritage Museum

STOCKTON — At 2 p.m. on Sept. 19, the Stockton Heritage Museum will host a presentation by Christopher Knauer, a.ka. Chris O’Brian, about his autographical book ON THE AIR: My Life and 41+ Years in Small Market Radio.

Knauer grew up in Elizabeth, and then moved to Stockton where he graduated from Stockton High School in 1967. Knauer then served in the military before beginning his lifelong career in broadcasting. Chris will discuss how he became interested in a radio career and share insider insights on working at multiple radio stations and a TV station in the tri-state area. The program will include the successes and the struggles he experienced in his career and life.

Once he retired, Chris turned author and spent five years writing a book about his small-town up-bringing, college years, military service, and his lengthy tenure behind the microphone.

There will be a QandA session at the end of the presentation. Autographed copies of the book will be for sale at the event. A percentage of all the book sales is being donated to the local American Heart Association and the local Cancer Society.

For the safety of all, attendees are required to wear a mask while in the museum.

The Stockton Heritage Museum is located at 107 West Front Avenue in Stockton. The event is free and open to all audiences.
