MONROE - The Swiss Attic Fanciers No. 939, the Monroe chapter of the Questers organization, hosted the Wisconsin State Fall Convention on Oct. 9 at Ludlow Mansion.
More than 100 members from 13 chapters from across the state learned about historic Monroe with a presentation by Matt Figi of the Green County Historical Society. Enlarged photos by early Monroe druggist and photographer Will E. Trukenbrod were loaned by Larry Phillips. The photos illustrated the changes that have accompanied Monroe's history and growth.
Ludlow Mansion provided dinner after the business meting and a silent auction raised funds for the organization's projects. Tours of the mansion, the Green County Courthouse and the Historical Society Museum were available. Visitors also browsed the Square.
During their monthly meeting, the Questers explore historical areas around Monroe, throughout Green County and in northern Illinois. They have speakers on diverse topics including Depression glassware, quilting, cheesemaking and early mining and farming in the area.
Questers is an international organization established by Jessie Elizabeth Bardens in 1944.
