MONROE - The play "The Supper That Wasn't" will be presented during the Maundy Thursday worship service at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1724 14th St., Monroe. The public is invited.

The gospels in the Bible relate how Jesus Christ called 12 male disciples to be his followers and how they took their place at a table for the Last Supper. This play asks the question "What if" someone selected 12 New Testament women to gather for a Last Supper with Christ. Which faithful women would be chosen and what would they have to say? The play is a revised modern adaptation of a piece by the Walter Baker Co. and will begin Holy Week services at St. John's Church. Communion will be served as part of the service.

Good Friday services are scheduled for 4 p.m. at St. Clare Friedensheim chapel and at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. John's UCC.

A sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m. Easter Sunday, March 27, at the church, to be followed by a breakfast in Fellowship Hall. Additional services will be at 9 a.m. in the church sanctuary and at 10:30 a.m. in the at St. Clare Friedensheim chapel. Communion will be served at all services and the public is invited.
