MONROE — SSM Health Monroe Hospital recently welcomed Dr. Tyag Patel, orthopedic surgeon, to the organization.  

Dr. Patel earned his medical degree at University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa Bay, Florida, followed by an Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. He also completed an Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  

As an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Patel provides comprehensive, advanced orthopedic care to patients of all ages. Common conditions he sees patients for includes, but is not limited to, injuries or pain in the knee, hip and shoulder as well as other tendon and ligament injuries and fracture care. 

“I enjoy educating patients so they can better understand their injuries and musculoskeletal conditions,” Dr. Patel said. “This often alleviates anxiety and worry so we can discuss a treatment plan that best fits their goals.”
