South Wayne blood drive exceeds goal with 40 pints

SOUTH WAYNE - The Red Cross Blood Drive held at Marty's Village in South Wayne on Aug. 3 went beyond expectations. The goal was set at 28 pints. With 42 potential donors presenting, a total of 40 pints was collected with three deferrals and two giving doubles.

First-time donors were Charis Perdue and Jen Wellnitz.

Earning gallon pins were Janet Gobeli with 24 gallons, and Helen Ladow with two gallons.

Other donors were Cheryl Dale, Grant Dale, Jim Meier, Loretta Brummel, Ronald Disch, Eileen Renkin, David Renkin, Sarah Renkin, James Stietz, Lavonne Liphart, Richard Fernstaedt, Billie Renolds, Diane Martin, Rob Hull, Konnye Hull, Connie Meier, Sarah Alexander, Tom Wellnitz, Deb Wolff, Herb Tornow, Mary McKnight, Steven Gobeli, Michael Ernzen, Jennifer Burns, Ed Ernst, Jason Thomas, Tara Herbst, Ken Heiman, Tim Stauffer, Gary Burns, Suzanne Robertson, Lonnie Stauffer, Monica Koch, Karen Signer, Donna Wyss, and Don Seffrood. Jacqueline Boss and Jeff Blum gave doubles.

Donating food for the canteen were Valley View Cheese, cheese; South Wayne Mart, milk; Marty's Village Inn, coffee; Carole Broge and Sharon Metz, sandwiches; Susie Junk, cookies; and Connie Meier, sandwiches, cookies, sausage and crackers.

Workers for the day were Susie Junk, Carole Broge and Connie Meier.

The next Red Cross visit to South Wayne will be Nov. 2.
