MONROE — Recently, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago awarded The Bike Haus and Lucky Cow Coffee & Gelato a grant of $15,000.00 each through its Community First Accelerate Grants for Small Business program. Woodford State Bank nominated the recipients. All grant recipients are small businesses that make a difference in their community, and funds are intended for property improvements, equipment or machinery, tools, inventory, materials, training, or upgrading technology.

“We are honored to support individuals and organizations that are making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. The Bike Haus and Lucky Cow Coffee & Gelato are great examples of that, and we couldn’t be happier to present this grant to them,” said Scott DeNure, Woodford State Bank President.

The Bike Haus in Monroe is using the grant to make essential additions to its building, increasing its ability to serve the community with top-tier bicycle services and products. Owners Dan and Heather Purcell manage full-time jobs outside of the business.

Similarly, Lucky Cow Coffee & Gelato in Darlington is applying the funds for building updates and crucial kitchen improvements, including a new oven and flooring, to continue providing its beloved offerings to the community. Owners Amber and Joe McComish actively engage with local schools, welcoming the 3K class for a field trip to bake donuts and hosting cookie decorating sessions with the art class at Darlington Elementary School.

Woodford State Bank is thrilled to support these local businesses in their efforts to grow and improve. We are always eager to help businesses in our community thrive, and these grants are a testament to the hard work and dedication of both The Bike Haus and Lucky Cow Coffee & Gelato.
