Six Albany students advance to state FBLA competition

ALBANY - FBLA members attended the Regional Leadership Conference at DeForest High School on Saturday. Albany students competed against 24 area schools in various business competitions.

Albany participants were Lauren Blumer in public speaking 2, Nathaniel Ross in insurance and risk management, Brandon Janes in intro to business, Brittany Janes in personal finance, Larisa Stauffacher in organizational leadership and Evan Blumer in word processing. The team of Kristin O'Bel, Haley Knauf and Sydney Mortaloni competed in web design.

Albany top finishers included Brandon Janes, placing eighth, and Ross, placing fourth, just missing the state competition.

Albany FBLA had a successful day, advancing six members to the state competition, which will be held in April in Appleton. The top three finishers in all competitions advance to the FBLA State Leadership Conference. The Albany state qualifiers are: Evan Blumer, third place, word processing; O'Bel, Knauf and Mortaloni, third place, website design; Stauffacher, third place, organizational leadership; and Brittany Janes, second place, personal finance.
