DARLINGTON - Leah Sinclair, Darlington, was honored with the Girl Scout Gold Award.
The Girl Scouts of Wisconsin-Badgerland Council recently honored 20 Girl Scouts who earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest national award a Girl Scout can earn. The Gold Award recognizes girls who demonstrate extraordinary leadership through take-action projects that have sustainable impact in their communities and beyond.
Sinclair is with Troop 5235, Darlington. Her church website had no information for people with special needs. She developed a "special needs" webpage, which is now attached to the website. Sinclair said this experience helped her come out of her shell, speaking and working with a variety of people, asking and listening to their thoughts. Sinclair's webpage is also being used as a model for other churches to design their own.
The Girl Scouts were presented the Gold Award during a recognition ceremony held in Wisconsin Dells this spring. Nationwide, less than 5 percent of Girl Scouts achieve the award.
