SHULLSBURG - Friends of the Shullsburg Public Library are sponsoring their seventh annual "Tree of Love" fundraiser throughout the month of January and February - with February being the month of love.

The "Tree of Love" is a fundraising program designed for participants to honor or remember special people in their lives. For a $5 donation, participants can purchase a heart ornament that will be hung on an evergreen tree located on display in the McCoy Shullsburg Public Library. The tree will be lit Friday, Feb. 13, when the library opens at 2 p.m.

"Since February is the month of love, the Friends thought this fundraiser would be a very appropriate and touching time for someone to remember or honor the memory of a loved one or a special friend," said Carol Stoudt, McCoy Public Library Director.

The tree will stay lit for approximately one month. Heart donations can be purchased from any Friend of the Shullsburg Library member, at the library or by contacting Carol Stoudt at (608) 965-4424, extension 5. One name per ornament is encouraged, except with a husband and wife memorial. Deadline for submission is Saturday, Feb. 2.

Money from this event will be used to continue to buy equipment, books, videos and materials for the library, in addition to funding other projects for continual library improvements.

The Friends of the Shullsburg Public Library is a volunteer group founded in 2001 to establish closer relations between the Shullsburg Public Library and the people that it serves and to promote informed interest in its functions, resources, services and needs.
