Parade goers came together despite overcast and wet conditions for the annual March 17 St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Monroe’s Square, hosted by Main Street Monroe. It was the 17th anniversary of the event. Children smiled and cheered for candy thrown from floats and by parade walkers. Mike Ganshert was the parade’s Grand Marshall, and Layla Hummel Packham was this year’s Queen of Green. The parade featured a variety of community groups, live music, multiple leprechauns, and appearances by several area mascots, including Scoopie, Sparky the Fire Dog and Chris Mouse.
