MONTICELLO - The 33rd annual Native American Indian Artifact Show held Sunday in Monticello was well attended.
There were 81 tables filled with historic to pre-historic artifacts. Tom Loebel, an archaeologist from Illinois University, was there cataloging paleo points. Paleo points are 10,000-15,000 years old. People exhibited from Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.
Some items were brought in for identification, and awards were presented. Best personal find was won by John Knoot; educational award went to Dan Maas; award of excellence went to Bill Wasemiller; judges' special award went to Alex Beer; and best of show went to Warren Lathom.
Food was provided by Boy Scout Troop 106.
Planning for next year's show is underway with a show date of Oct. 22, 2017, at the Monticello School Gym.
