MONROE - The 60th anniversary of the Korean War will be commemorated with a service at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27 at the Green County Veterans Memorial Park, located at the intersection of Wisconsin 81 and County Trunk N.
Opening ceremonies of the event, which is open to the public, will include presentation of the colors by the Stuessy-Kuenzi American Legion Post 141, New Glarus. The Monroe Fire Department will raise the American flag with their aerial ladder, and Tim Soddy will sing the national anthem.
Marilyn Sandlin Ross will give the invocation, followed by a roll call by Monroe Mayor Bill Ross of the names of eight Green County soldiers killed in the Korean War. Stuessy-Kuenzi American Legion Post No. 141, New Glarus, will conduct the closing ceremonies.
