Senior Center plans classes, events for Nov. and Dec.
Senior Center

MONROE — The Behring Senior Center has numerous activities and classes planned. Arrangements to participate can be made by calling the senior center at 608-325-3173 or stop at the center reception desk. Participants must pre-register for all programs, including free ones, so staff will know how many will be attending to order supplies or food. All classes and activities are for people 55 and older.


Classes

●  Drop-In line dancing will be from 3 to 4 p.m. all Mondays in Nov. with Pam Yeagle. There is a cost for this class.

●  A spaghetti wildflower class will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 4 with Tracy Signer. Paint with actual spaghetti and fun tools. There is a cost for this class.

●  An introduction to Yoga class will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Nov. 4. Bring a blanket to sit on and wear comfortable exercise clothes. There is a cost for this class and a limit of 15 people.

●  A computer basics class will be at 1 p.m. on Nov. 7 with Robin McLeish. This very basic computer class if for beginners. Do not bring your laptop or tablet. There is a cost for this class and a limit of eight people.

●  A holiday card making class will be at 1 p.m. on Nov. 19 with Sue Martinez. There is a cost for this class and a limit of 12 people.


Events

●  Breakfast for all Veterans and spouses ages 55 and over will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 6. Do not come before 8 a.m. The next breakfast will be Dec. 4.

●  A program on WWII concentration camps will be at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 7. There is a limit of 85 people.

●  Exercise registration starts at 8 a.m. on Nov. 13. This session will go into the new year, so you will need to fill out a new liability waiver for 2020.

●  Thanksgiving Dinner and entertainment will be at 12 p.m. on Nov. 14. Reservations will not be taken before Oct. 23. There is a limit of 85 people.

●  A program on forgetfulness will be at 1 p.m. on Nov. 18.

●  Chair massage by Melissa Kieler will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 18 and Dec. 16. Sessions are 20 minutes and you will need an appointment. There is a cost that you will give Melissa.  

●  The Nov. movie “Mary Poppins Returns” will be at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 19.

●  Bingo will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Nov. 20.

●  Healthy eating after 55 with John Park MS, RD, LD from CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Illinois will be at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 21.

●  The card game Flippo will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Nov. 22.

●  Christmas Dinner and entertainment will be at noon on Dec. 9. Reservations will not be taken before Nov. 20. There is a limit of 85 people.

●  Jessica Michna presents Nurse Eleanor Maher, a World War I nurse, at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 11. There is a limit to 70 people.

●  Grief 101 presented by Agrace will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Dec. 12. There is a limit of 30 people.

●  A mindful meditation workshop with Susan Andersen from the Great Plains Zen Center will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesdays in Jan. starting the 8th.
