Senior Center plans classes and events

MONROE — The Behring Senior Center has numerous activities and classes planned. Arrangements to participate can be made by calling the senior center at 608-325-3173 or stop at the center reception desk. 

Participants must pre-register for all programs, including free ones, so staff will know how many will be attending to order supplies or food. All classes and activities are for people 55 and older.


Classes

●  A quilting class will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays in March starting March 10 with Tereesa Schroeder. Class is limited to 15 people and there is a cost.

●  Exercise registration will start at 8 a.m. on March 11.

●  A line dancing class will be held at 3 p.m. on Mondays starting April 6.

●  A knitting class will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Mondays starting April 6.

●  A dip making class will be held at 1 p.m. on April 17.

●  A clothespin wreath class will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on April 21. There is a cost and a limit of eight people.


Events

●  Open gym for advanced Pickleball will be on Thursdays at 3:15 p.m. and social Pickleball will be on Fridays at 2 p.m. 

●  Chair massage by Melissa Kieler will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 2 and March 23. Sessions are 20 minutes and you will need an appointment. There is a cost that you will give Melissa. 

●  Breakfast for all Veterans and spouses ages 55 and over will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on March 4. Do not come before 8 a.m. The next breakfast will be April 1.

●  Coffee with a cop will be at 9:30 a.m. on March 6.

●  Julie’s foot care will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 10, 17 and 31. There is a cost and each appointment is 30 minutes. Future dates are April 7, 14 and 28.

●  Smilin’ St. Paddy’s Party will be held at 1:30 p.m. on March 12. Limited to 85 people.

●  An Edward Jones Financial Program, Your Prosperity Picture, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on March 17. Lunch will be provided.

●  Bingo will be at 1 p.m. on March 20.

●  Discover your Choices, a program on choosing a senior community, will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on March 24. Sign up with Amanda, 608-558-1783 or Kelly, 608-214-5726.

●  The March movie “The Peanut Butter Falcon” will be at 1:30 p.m. on March 26.

●  The card game Flippo will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on March 27.

●  Bowling and a pizza party will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Leisure Lanes on March 30. The cost includes three games, shoe rental, pizza and pop.

●  St. Croix Hospice program on Parkinson’s Disease will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on April 7.

●  A presentation on acupuncture with Brittni Cahill will be held at 1:30 p.m. on April 28.

●  Woods Raptor Center program will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on April 30. Learn about the Bald Eagle and the Red-Tailed Hawk. Limit of 65 people.
