Self defense class starts Monday

MONROE - The Monroe Park and Recreation Department along with Timm Burns are offering a Self Defense Class for college age/high school students. Classes will be held on from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 8, Wednesdays, June 10 and June 17, and Friday, June 19 at the Behring Senior Center of Monroe. The class will include basic self-defense focusing on practical physical and mental skills to keep you safe in a new environment along with some ideas on dealing with situations so you don't have to resort to physical force.

Cost to participate is $20 per person and it is recommended you sign up with a partner. A minimum of 10 participants are needed for the class to begin. For more information or to sign up, contact the Monroe Parks and Recreation Department at 329-2460.
