FENNIMORE - The Southwest Tech Foundation's 17th Annual Scholarship and Awards Ceremony was held on March 8. Among the more than $85,000 in scholarships awarded to students at Southwest Tech, Fennimore, were ones awarded to four local students.

Dillon Weckerly, a 2010 graduate of Monroe High School and student in the agricultural power and equipment technician program, was awarded the Ag Scholarship. The Ag Scholarship was established in 1984 by businesses and individuals in the agriculture field. The recipient must be enrolled full-time at Southwest Tech in an Agriculture Division program or taking a course through Farm Business and Production Management.

Jordan Gilbertson, a 2009 graduate of Monroe High School and student in the Building Trades-Carpentry program, was awarded the Midwest Builders Scholarship. This scholarship was established by Midwest Builders in 2010 to support students enrolled in the Building Trades-Carpentry program.

Tyler Kubly, a 2010 graduate of Monroe High School and student in the Bricklaying and Masonry program, was awarded a Donald Borchert, Sr. Memorial Scholarship. Established in memory of Donald Borchert, Sr., this scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in the Bricklaying and Masonry Program. The recipient must be a full-time student and maintain a 2.5 GPA.

Mandi Reasa, a student in the Nursing-Associate Degree program, was awarded a Grant Regional Health Center Foundation Scholarship. Grant Regional Health Center has been a partner with the college in healthcare-related opportunities. To receive this scholarship, applicants must be enrolled in the Associate Degree-Nursing program.
