Scholarships available for those going into health field

MONROE - Monroe Clinic Volunteers are offering two types of scholarships for students seeking a career in a health-related field. The deadline for application submission is Feb. 20.

Individuals may receive each scholarship only once. Applications are available at monroeclinic.org.

Monroe Clinic Volunteers award four $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors each year.

Two $500 scholarships are available for high school seniors from communities with Monroe Clinic branch locations (Albany, Blanchardville, Brodhead, Durand, Freeport, Lena and New Glarus) or who live within an area serviced by a branch site or who have a parent employed by Monroe Clinic.

Two $500 scholarships are available to Monroe High School seniors.

To apply, applicants need to be pursuing a degree or certificate in the healthcare field, have a GPA of 3.25 or higher and have studies emphasizing science and math. Applications must be typed. Scholarships are awarded based on citizenship, need and school or outside activities.

Five $1,500 scholarships are available for college students from communities within Monroe Clinic's service area. Applicants must have completed at least one year of advanced study (beyond high school) in a health-related field, be a resident within Monroe Clinic's service area or have a parent who is a Monroe Clinic employee.

An applicant may receive this scholarship only once. If the applicant has received a Monroe Clinic Volunteer $500 scholarship in the past, they are still eligible.

To apply, applicants need to be pursuing a degree or certificate in the healthcare field, have a GPA of 3.25 or higher, have studies emphasizing science and math and be enrolled as at least a sophomore in college. Applications must be typed. Scholarships are awarded based on citizenship, need and school or outside activities.
