Scholarship winners named

DARLINGTON - The Memorial Healthcare Foundation Grants and Career Development Committee selected five recipients for healthcare scholarships in 2013.

The recipients exemplified educational and community requirements.

The following received $1,000 awards on July 16:

- Paige Heim, Shullsburg, is currently studying radiation therapy and pre-physician assistant at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Heim is the daughter of Pat and Jill Heim, Shullsburg.

She is a 2011 graduate of Shullsburg High School and has completed her first year at UW-La Crosse. She is currently working at Bethany Lutheran Homes as a resident care assistant.

- Morgan McComish, Shullsburg, attended UW-Platteville for her freshman year and will be pursing nursing at the UW-Oshkosh in the fall. McComish is the daughter of Dennis and Becky Kelly and Patrick McComish.

She is a 2012 graduate of Shullsburg High School and currently works as a certified nursing assistant at Epione Pavillion.

- Jeffrey McDonald, Belmont, is currently studying pre-pharmacy at UW-Madison.

McDonald is the son of Mike and Denise McDonald. He is a 2010 graduate of Belmont High School. McDonald is currently employed at Wal-Mart Pharmacy, Platteville.

- Hailey Meier, South Wayne, graduated from Edgewood College in the spring with a bachelors of science degree in psychology and she will be attending the University of Minnesota in the fall for a masters in Occupational Therapy. Meier is the daughter of Kent and Jill Meier, South Wayne.

She is a 2009 graduate of Black Hawk High School. Meier currently works for the YMCA of Dane County as a child watch staff member.

- Hailey Richardson, Cuba City, is currently studying nursing at Viterbo University. Richardson is the daughter of Terry and Laurie Richardson, Cuba City. She is a 2011 graduate of Cuba City High School and is currently working as a certified nursing assistant at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home.

The Memorial Healthcare Foundation's mission is to support and promote Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County through the endowment of new and existing services, scholarships and capital improvements.
