MANKATO, MINN. - Laura Chopp, daughter of Thomas and Cynthia Chopp of Monroe, has been named recipient of a $20,000 Presidential Scholar Award at Minnesota State University, Mankato for the 2010-2011 academic school year.
This scholarship of $20,000 ($5,000 per year for four years) is awarded to selected new students based on class rank, ACT scores, recommendations, leadership, personal essay and personal interview.
Students must rank in the top 10 percent of their high school class and have an ACT composite score of 26 or greater or rank number one in their high school class.
