BLANCHARDVILLE - Runners and walkers are sought to join the Team Mathias Chunky Monkey Epilepsy Run/Walk on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Yellowstone Golf Course.

November is epilepsy awareness month and the theme will be purple to enhance that.

The Kids Fun Run begins at 10 a.m. and the 5K run/walk begins at 10:30 a.m.

Bucky Badger will be at the event. After the race, soup and cider will be provided by local restaurants, along with other race refreshments. There will also be a kids' fun room with activities including bean bags, an art area and face painting.

The race will also accompany a blanket drive for a pediatric intensive care unit. All handmade fleece tie blankets can be brought to the golf course on race day. Sizes needed are infant, size 30 by 45 inches; toddler/elementary, size 40 by 60 inches; and older children, size 60 by 80 inches.

Up to 200 runners and walkers can register for the race. To register, visit www.chunkymonkeyrun.com or contact Mandy Koch for paper registration at 608-543-9098. All proceeds will benefit children affected by epilepsy by furthering research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Team Mathia is a non-profit component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, Inc. The race is presented by Thunder Bridge Trading Company, Argyle.

The pre-registration cost is $25 or $50 family registration. Pre-registration ends Thursday, Oct. 24. The race day registration cost is $30, $15 children run for ages 10 and under, and $60 for family registration.
