DARLINGTON - The Darlington Police Department, along with the Dora Ritter Wellness Center, will host the second annual 5K Glow Run/Walk on Sept. 27 at the Lafayette County Fairgrounds. The event will benefit the Darlington Police Department's K-9 Unit.
Registration begins at 5 p.m., and the race begins at 7:15 p.m. Before the 5K run/walk, there will be an "Emergency Night Out."
For entertainment, there will be an array of emergency service equipment as well as personnel from fire departments, EMS and various police departments.
Highlights during the event include a Medflight helicopter landing and demonstrations by the Dane Co. Sheriff's Department's Bomb Squad, the Lafayette Co. Sheriff's Department's Emergency Response Team and the Darlington Police Department's K-9 Unit.
The Darlington Optimist Club and Darlington High School cheerleaders will provide cheese curds and refreshments.
The purpose of the annual event is to promote community awareness of area emergency response capabilities while raising money to support the Darlington Police Department's next K-9 unit.
The cost for the run/walk will be $20 per individual, $35 per couple and $15 per child. The Emergency Night Out is open to the public. The event will be held rain or shine.
