MONROE — A memorable holiday experience awaits the entire family at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 when Monroe Arts Center presents the concert “Ring in the Season.”
This three-act concert will close MAC’s 22nd Annual Holiday Silent Auction, as well as celebrate the festive moods of the season with melodious secular and seasonal songs performed by members of the Zwingli Senior Chime Choir from Monticello, the Monroe Brass Quintet, and the Jodi Beach Trio of Rockford, Illinois. The Monroe Arts Center is located at 1315 11th St., Monroe.
Under the musical direction of Denise Pinnow, the Zwingli Senior Chime Choir performs holiday favorites such as “Go Tell It on the Mountain” and “Count Your Blessings” with hand chimes. This unique, yet simple instrument creates a pure and beautiful resonant sound. Members of the choir are Mary Gafner, Kathleen Grossen, JoAnn Cruse, Barb Duerst, Nancy Karlen, Cindy Lederman, Danielle Risley, Cher Venden, Beth Voegli, Judy Weichmann, Sheri Wichser and Anita Zuber.
The second portion of the entertainment will be the Monroe Brass Quintet (MBQ). Members Will Brown (trumpet), Janine Brown (trumpet), Jo Ellen Mosher (French Horn), Bill Lanz (baritone), and Mike Pollock (tuba) will perform a variety of instrumental music such as “Deck the Halls,” “O Tannenbaum,” and “Up On The Rooftop” to the delight of all in attendance.
Nine-time Rockford Area Music Industry (RAMI) award-winning jazz musician and vocalist Jodi Beach, along with band members Jim McDowell (upright bass) and Tom Marken (percussion), will perform as the final musical group for Ring in the Season.
Final bidding for items at MAC’s Holiday Silent Auction ends at 1:45 p.m., just prior to the 2 p.m. start of “Ring in the Season.”
