MONROE - The Green County Retired Educator's Association ended its 40th anniversary year with a meeting on Thursday, Dec. 12.
Members organized school supplies that were gathered during the year and were given to a Green County school for use in the second semester. This year, the Monroe school district received the donations.
The GCREA met at the United Methodist Church for its anniversary celebration and prospective member's dinner earlier in the fall. The program "A Walk Down Memory Lane" was presented by author Rochelle Pennington.
The GCREA was organized in 1973 with a purpose to promote and protect the interests, rights, and welfare of its members. It also offers the opportunity for socializing, fellowship and keeping in touch with other retired educators.
The organization currently has 75 members and meets five times a year. The current president is Sue Buetzer.
