R/C race to raise funds for charity

MONROE - Cheese City Xtreme R/C will host a radio controlled race at the outdoor track, 1632 4th Ave. West, on Saturday, June 23.

The race and the day's events are designed for all ages.

Race For a Cure requires a donation fee and a $2 gate entry fee. Prizes, giveaways and raffles will be available. Discount America Hobby and Motorsports will be doing a raffle for a 2012 Propel Delray 50cc Scooter.

Other activities include a dunk tank and a bounce house. All the money raised during the event will go to the Ronald McDonald House and Memphis Grizzlies House in Memphis, Tenn.

The group will be taking a road trip in October to Memphis. Members will be packing up all of their personal R/C trucks with a portable track. The group will be arriving at the Ronald McDonald House on Oct. 5 and will give the children and families an opportunity to race the machines. On Oct. 6, they will visit Memphis Grizzlies House.
