SHULLSBURG - Friends of the Shullsburg Public Library will sponsor their annual used book sale in conjunction with Shullsburg's annual Cheese Fest Oct. 2 and 3. The "Friday for Friends" event, open to Friends of the Shullsburg Library only, is slated for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Townsend Community Center. Membership forms will be available that evening for those wishing to join and take advantage of the preview book sale. The general public will be able to purchase books on from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.

The annual book sale is one of the many fundraisers that the Friends sponsor throughout the year. Hundreds of books are collected and put on sale for book hounds and readers of all ages. Prices range from 50 cents to $1, with a special all-you-can-stuff in a grocery bag for $5, beginning at noon. The Shullsburg Creamery, for the third year in a row, will match "dollar for dollar" any money that is raised during this event.

New and used items in good condition can be donated before the sale by bringing them to the library during regular business hours: noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday; 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday; 2 to 6 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Donations are tax deductible so ask for a receipt.

For more information on donating books or on the sale, contact the library at (608) 965-4424 ext. 5. Volunteers are being asked to help staff the event as well.

Money from the event will be used to continue to buy equipment, books, videos and materials for the library.
