BELOIT-Congregation B'nai Abraham is inviting the community to a Purim Party with a Purpose.

Purim is a joyous Jewish holiday that celebrates a time when the Jewish people living in Persia were saved from extermination. B'nai Abraham is observing the holiday by throwing a party filled with food, drink, costumes, games and entertainment that also will benefit a good cause.

All proceeds from the party will be donated to Caritas, a local group that provides food and clothing to needy people.

The Purim Party with a Purpose will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at B'nai Abraham, 2400 Oxford Lane, Beloit.

Hot dogs, sloppy Joes, snacks, soda, beer and wine will be available.

Everyone who donates an article of warm clothing for Caritas will receive a free soda ticket, and contributors of nonperishable food items will be rewarded with a free hot dog ticket.

People planning to attend the Purim Party are asked to call B'nai Abraham at (608) 364-4916 or e-mail: synagogue@charter.net.
