MONROE - The Prom for Pennies event will be held at a new location this year.

The event will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 28 at Monroe High School.

All area students are invited to shop for their dream dress at the event. There is no admission charge and dresses are marked with a "suggested" donation ranging from $5 to $40 each. Cash or checks will be accepted, but no credit cards. This year there will be more than 800 dresses; about one-third of these are new dresses, thanks to contributions by Brandi's in New Glarus, Bridal Boutique in Platteville, Julie's Bridal in Monroe and Vera's in Madison.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Jacob's SWAG Foundation Inc. Jacob's SWAG was created to raise funds to help provide educational programs in the schools and community youth programs in the areas of bullying, suicide prevention/awareness, mental health and making good life choices.
