Program on researching history of homes is Saturday

MONROE - "Researching the History of Your Home" will be presented at Monroe Public Library at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 19.

Presenter Mary Elise Antoine, formerly of the New York State Division of Historic Preservation and the Wisconsin Historical Society, has conducted extensive research on historic houses including Fort Johnson in New York built in 1749, her own late 18th century home in New York, the Villa Louis in Prairie du Chien, the Francois Vertefeuille house in Prairie du Chien, her own French-Canadian home in Prairie, and many other early structures in Prairie du Chien. She is familiar with dating homes through legal research, historical research, architectural details, and construction methods.
