DARLINGTON - Private pesticide applicator training for 2013 will begin Thursday, Feb. 14 in Lafayette County.

The day-long training sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14 at Talmer Bank and Trust, Darlington, and from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the Baymont Inn and Convention Center, Belmont. A test-only session will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 at Talmer Bank and Trust, Darlington.

Training and testing allow farm operators and employees to become certified to use restricted use pesticides. Training provides information on safe handling and application of pesticides and applicator certification allows more options for insect and weed control in crops.

Pre-registration is required with a $30 cost for testing and certification. Study materials can be sent to participants who pre-register by mailing in the $30 charge indicating which training session they plan to attend. Checks should be made payable to UWEX and sent to UW-Extension, 627 Washington St., Darlington, WI 53530. Participants may also pre-register by stopping at the Extension office.
