Pleasant View Summer Cookout June 14

MONROE — Pleasant View Garden is hosting a Summer Cookout on June 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Walk-ins and carry outs are welcome, and drive through pre-orders are also available. The menu includes a grilled fresh ground beef patty with a split top bun, coleslaw, chips, a cookie, and bottled water, as well as individual packaged condiments. All proceeds support the Friends of Pleasant View Foundation’s Special Project Fund Glass Atrium. 

The cost is $10, and the deadline for pre-orders was Tuesday, June 13 at 4 p.m.

Staver UMC Ice Cream Social June 25

MONROE — Staver United Methodist Church is bringing back their Ice Cream Social on Sunday, June 25 from 4-7 p.m. 

The menu will consist of BBQ sandwich, BBQ pork sandwich, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, chips/applesauce, dessert, ice cream and toppings, coffee, and lemonade or milk. 

Dine in or carry outs available. The cost is $12 for adults and $5 children 5 and under. 

MMS book fair June 19-23

MONROE — The Monroe Middle School is holding a book fair from June 19-23 in the new gym from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. 

The fair is sponsored by ADK, an educational sorority, and aims to make summer reading available for all students. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Beer to speak about Old Copper Culture

ALBANY — The Albany WI Historical Society is hosting a presentation on June 20 about Native American artifacts from the Old Copper Culture of Wisconsin, presented by James Beer. 

The artifacts date back 5,000-7,000 years and include campsites on the Sugar River and others. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the museum,119 N. Water Street in Albany.

Children can earn money for good grades at FBNT

BELOIT — With the end of the school year, First National Bank and Trust (FNBT) announced the return of the First Savers Club Good Grades Benefit in an effort to teach kids about early financial literacy and reward kids for good grades. 

Now through July 15, children ages 13 and under with an active First Savers Savings account can bring in their end-of-year report card to receive $1 for every “A” (or A equivalent) they earned, up to $5. Parents can either bring their child’s report card to a local bank branch to receive immediate credit to their child’s First Savers Account or complete a form on the bank’s website. Requests made online will receive the Good Grades Benefit credit at the end of July.

GCHS annual meeting June 22

MONROE — The Green County Historical Society will hold its annual meeting on June 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the museum, located at 1617 9th Street next to the Stop N Go gas station.

A general board meeting will be held, then elections of officers and yearly reports will be given. All members are encouraged to attend to take part in voting on items needing votes of the majority of membership attending and see the changes to the museum.  

All interested parties are encouraged to attend to learn more about the historical society.

Music, root beer floats at Aster June 21

MONROE — Aster Assisted Living, 616 8th Ave, will be hosting a summer party on June 21 at 1:00 p.m. They will have music by Hugo and root beer floats.
