Fundraiser will take place Saturday at Applebee's
LENA - The Friends of the Pecatonica River Foundation will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 18 at The Rafter's Restaurant, 9426 W. Wagner Road, Lena.
The meeting will be held in the cafe dining room with organization president Joe Ginger presiding. The foundation is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to improving all 58 miles of the Pecatonica River, including access, education, wildlife habitat, log jam extrication and river cleanup for the communities in Stephenson County.
The organization is also hosting "A Short Stack for a Tall Cause," a fundraiser from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Applebee's in Freeport. The cost is $5 per person.
Plans of The Friends of the Pecatonica River Foundation include: seeding a wetland development; placing aggregate in the driveway and parking lot; continuing the electrical installation; discussing canoe and kayak launch options; planning the "Dry Hydrant" Fire Protection Asset; Lee's eradication of poison ivy; finishing the ADA fishing pier installation at Atten's Landing; and providing reports on the present and future landings and equipment repairs.
The foundation is an active, hands-on group. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting and the fundraiser and become an active part of the organization.
