DARLINGTON — Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington was recently recognized for achieving the Wisconsin Hospital Association’s Checkpoint Top Performer Status in the following measure categories: Hip and Knee Surgery Complications, Patient Experience, Patient Safety-All Patients with Surgery and Mortality-Conditions.
The Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) launched its voluntary hospital quality reporting program — CheckPoint. CheckPoint was the first statewide, voluntary hospital quality reporting initiative in the country. It is designed to meet the demand for information on the quality care provided by community hospitals.
“MHLC is committed to working collaboratively on achieving excellence through continuous Quality Improvement. Our strategy with quality improvement is to provide the best quality of care to achieve the highest quality outcomes in our facilities,” said Kelsey Gant, Missy Fitzsimons, and Deanna Wright, Quality Improvement Team at MHLC.
Wisconsin remains one of the only states in the country to voluntarily report more than 45 measures of quality and safety. By sharing information, Wisconsin hospitals can benchmark their progress against other hospitals in the state and share best practices to facilitate rapid improvement. By implementing these strategies, rural health care facilities can enhance their quality improvement efforts, ultimately leading to better health outcomes for their patients and communities.
