Kaylen Cassidy, 8, daughter of James and Erin Cassidy, takes part in a Monroe Parks and Recreation dance class.

MONROE — The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a children’s dance program that will run for seven weeks from Jan. 25 to March 8 at the Behring Senior Center, 1113 10th St.

Ballet 1, for 3- and 4-year-olds, will be held from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m., and Ballet 2, for 5-years and up, will be held from 5:50 to 6:20 p.m. The instructors are Maddison Markham and Kaylea Paulsen.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they are taking extra safety precautions. The instructors wear facemasks during the class. For the protection of all, they do prefer that children wear facemasks to dance lessons. They ask parents to social distance, enter through one door, and exit through another to limit contact and exposure. Children do not need any special clothing, simply wear something comfortable, although many do wear leotards and ballet slippers.

Parents may register children for this program by stopping down to the Parks and Rec office, lower level of City Hall or online at monroewi.activityreg.com. Call the office with questions at 608-329-2460.
