MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department is offering an After School youth center program for the 2008-2009 school year. The first session will run from September 2 to December 23, and the second session will run from January 5 to May 22. This program is open to children in Kindergarten through fifth grade. Children in 4K are not eligible for this program.

The Youth Center is open after school from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The First Student Bussing Company will pick the children up at school and bus them to the Youth Center. Parents will need to pick their child up by 5 p.m.

Registration is based on a first come, first serve basis and there is limited space available. Stop at the office to register for the days you are interested in. Payment is due the first of each month. Cost per day: Mondays-$48, Tuesdays-$39, Wednesdays-$42, Thursdays-$42 and Fridays-$42.

On no school days, early releases and election days (Tuesdays), the After School program doesn't meet. For more information about this program, contact the Parks and Recreation office at 329-2466 or e-mail Carol Wyss at cwyss@cityofmonroe.org.
