MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department has openings in some upcoming programs.
Girls Lassie Softball League will be on Tuesdays from June 14 to July 26 at Twining Park. Girls entering 5K will be at 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., girls entering first grade at 6:15 to 7 p.m. and girls entering second grade at 7 to 8 p.m. The cost is $20 for residents (R) and $30 for non-residents (NR).
Boys T-Ball is for boys entering 5K in September and will be from 5:15 to 6 p.m. Thursdays at Recreation Park from June 16 to July 28. The cost is $20R/$30NR.
Boys Coach Pitch Minor League is for boys entering first and second grades and will be held Wednesdays and Thursdays from June 15 to July 28 at Recreation Park. Boys entering first grade will meet from 6:10 to 7:10 p.m., and those entering second grade will meet from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. The cost is $30R/$40NR.
Volleyball Skills for boys and girls entering third through ninth grades will be held on Wednesdays from June 15 through July 20. Children entering third through fifth grades will meet from 6 to 7 p.m., and those entering sixth through ninth grades will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Northside Elementary School gym. The cost is $20R/$30NR.
Playground for Special Needs will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 14 to July 21 at Recreation Park north shelter. The program is for special-needs children in first grade through high school. The cost is $25R/$35NR.
Summer Dance classes will be on Thursdays from July 7 through Aug. 18 at the Community Center. Four classes will be held: Ballet I (for ages 3-4) from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.; Ballet II (ages 4-5) from 5:50 to 6:20 p.m.; Ballet III (ages 6 and up, advanced) from 6:25 to 6:55 p.m.; and Pop Class (ages 7 and up) from 7 to 7:35 p.m. The cost is $40R/$50NR.
Summer Golf lessons will be Tuesdays from June 7 through Aug. 16 at Monroe Country Club. Boys and girls ages 8-10 will meet from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. and ages 11-14 from 6:15 to 7 p.m. The cost is $30R/$40NR.
Disc Golf League will meet at 6 p.m. Thursdays from May 5 through Aug. 25 at Twining Park in the parking lot closest to the No. 1 hole. Register on site each Thursday. The cost is $5 with a payout each week.
Tennis Lessons will be held Monday through Thursday at the Recreation Park tennis courts. Two sessions are being offered: July 5-14 and July 18-28. For both sessions, first through fourth grades meet from 8 to 9 a.m., fifth through seventh grades from 9 to 10 a.m., ninth through 12th grades hitting lessons from 10 to 11 a.m. and ninth through 12th grades singles and doubles lessons from 11 a.m. to noon. Instructors are Brad Saugstad and Hannah Grossen. The cost is $25R/$35NR.

Parks and Rec is offering three Lego opportunities this summer, with the help of staff from "Bricks 4 Kidz." Lego is a registered trademark of the Lego Group, which does not sponsor, authorize or endorse these programs.
Amusement Park Camp: 9 a.m. to noon July 6, 7 and 8. The camp is for children entering first through fifth grades and will be held at the Community Center. Campers will build a new ride each day, learning how to make things spin, roll, turn and rock. Motorized models will be used. The cost is $105R/$115NR.
Space Adventure Camp - Star Wars: 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 12. The camp is for children entering first through fifth grades and will be held at the Community Center. Inspired by NASA and Star Wars, the Space Adventure Camp is packed full of models. The cost is $35R/$45NR.
Minecraft: 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 18. This is for children entering first through fifth grades and will be held at the Community Center. Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything. Kids will experience the world of Minecraft with Lego bricks. The cost is $35R/$45NR.
Adventure Club Classes
Craftastic Wednesday and Pool Fun: For boys and girls ages 6-10 to do arts and crafts followed by some time at the pool. Classes are from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays, July 6-27, at the Recreation Park north shelter. The cost is $15R/$25NR.
