MONROE - The City of Monroe Parks and Recreation department has new classes beginning soon.
Parks and Rec will be starting a new session of tumbling on Mondays from Jan. 21 through March 4. The class is for anyone ages 4 to 8 years old. The classes meet from 6 to 7 p.m. at Northside gym, 3005 8 1/2 St. Participants will be introduced to basic tumbling moves, climbing the rope, using a spring board and balance beam, hula hoops and more. The cost is $24 for residents and $34 for non-residents. Class size is limited.
Young Rembrandts Drawing starts Jan. 24. The class will be an elementary drawing class from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday nights for four weeks. Cartooning class will start on Feb. 28 from 4 to 5 p.m. for four weeks. All classes are held at the Community Center, 1110 18th Ave. The cost for the drawing class is $40 and the cost for cartooning is $42. The projects will be different from the other classes taught before.
The Dollie or American Girl Tea Party will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 at the Community Center. Those who attend can dress up their doll as well as themselves. Special crafts, treats and games will be set up for the tea party. The program is for kindergarten through fifth graders and the cost is $7. Those who attend will be asked to bring a treat. Class size is limited so register early.
