MONROE - "Music for Earth Day" is the theme for Midday Masterworks, an organ mini-recital to be presented at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church of Monroe, and at 5:30 p.m. at St. Victor Church, Monroe.

Organist Deborah Krauss Smith will play the program, which will include "Song of Creation" by Alec Rowley; "Heaven and Earth Display" from the oratorio "Athalia" by Felix Mendelssohn; as well as a setting of "America, the Beautiful."

The audience can also join in the singing of several earth-themed hymns, which were selected from a hymn sing event, titled "Bounty and Blessings," that was originally presented by the organist in November 2014 at the Overture Center for the Arts, Madison, and sponsored by the Madison Symphony Orchestra.

Midday Masterworks is a quarterly Wednesday noon-hour organ mini-recital series that was established in 2002.

The free half-hour programs are open to the public. For more information, visit coldspringsroad.com/middaymasterworks.html.
