MONROE - Midday Masterworks, a quarterly organ mini-recital series, is slated for 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, at the United Methodist Church of Monroe, and is repeated at 5:30 p.m. at St. Victor Catholic Church.
Jane Olson, a soprano, who will sing George Gerschwin's "Summertime," and the Monroe Brass Quintet, which will play "Psalm 19" by Benedetto Marcello are the featured guests on the program.
Additionally, the Monroe Brass Quintet will join Midday Masterworks organist, Debo-rah Krauss Smith, to play a brass/organ transcription of "Suite Gothique," organ work by French composer Leon Boellmann. Randy Schnee-berger and Randy Sievert, trumpets; JoEllen Mosher, horn; Bill Lanz, baritone; and Mike Olson, tuba comprise the Quintet. Smith, a veteran organist and church musician, is currently director of music/organist at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe.
