MONROE - The annual fishing clinic sponsored by the Monroe Optimist Club will be held May 14. It is open to boys and girls ages five through 13. Participants may meet the Optimists at Lake Montesian in Monticello or they can ride a bus from the Monroe Library, leaving at 9 a.m. The outing includes a lunch and a raffle for all the children, but the children must provide their own fishing equipment and bait.
The outing ends at 1 p.m., at which time all children must be picked up who were dropped off at the lake. The bus returning children to the Monroe Library also will leave the lake at 1 p.m.
The children must have a signed permission slip with them to participate. Adult Optimist club members will provide supervision during the event.
