MONROE - The Monroe Optimist Club's annual fishing outing will be Saturday, May 14.
Each year, the club takes a group of boys and girls ages 5 to 13 fishing. The group will meet at the Monroe Public Library at 9 a.m. and travel by bus to Lake Montesian in Monticello. They will fish, eat lunch and raffle off prizes for the children. They will return to Monroe by 1 p.m.
Transportation, prizes and lunch will be provided. Children must bring their own fishing equipment and bait.
