MONROE — The Parks & Recreation Department in Monroe has openings for their one-day programs, including the following:


American Girl Tea Party — Sponsored by Woodford State Bank

Bring your American Girl doll or your favorite doll and share some tea and cookies. Stations will be set up do a craft, hair, nails and make jewelry for you and your doll.

Age: 3 to 12 years old

Chefs in the Making - Sponsored by Cliff & Dorothy Reasa Fund 

Children will learn the basic fundamentals of becoming a good cook. Learn to measure and mix while preparing fun snacks to enjoy.

Pokémon Training Camp — Sponsored by Kiwanis Club 

Spend your morning learning to be a Pokémon trainer. We will play games, make crafts and do exercises all leading to earning your Pokémon trainer certificate at the end of camp.

Down on the Rieder’s Farm — Sponsored by the Dan Rieder Family 

Spend the afternoon on Rieder’s Family farm feeding goats, ponies and calves and seeing animals such as ducks, chickens, peacocks, rabbits and kittens. We’ll see how they milk and feed the cows. Parents should drop off and pick up their children at W5478 County Rd DR, Monroe. Parents are welcome to stay, but it’s not necessary unless child is 4 years old or under.

We’re inviting some ocean friends to this party. This hands-on program features new characters through story time and crafts, then children will bring one of those characters to life by hand stuffing one of their own. Children will name their new friend with a birth certificate and take it home to snuggle and love.

Green County Princesses “Musical Chairs on the Square” Sponsored by Green County Dairy Queens, Lions Club & Colony Brands

You are invited to an enchanted evening. Come dressed in your fanciest outfit for an evening of games and fun at the enchanted forest on the courthouse lawn. The Green County Dairy Queens will be dressed as their favorite Princess and running a carnival game. Pony rides sponsored by Lions Club and free train ride sponsored by Colony Brands. Please join us for the concert on the square that night!  

Age: No age limit, but children should be accompanied by an adult to drop in to play games and meet the princesses.
